Welcome to the e-Skills Moodle site

This site has been created to provide a place for SA VET practitioners & trainers to experiment with the use of Moodle, thereby supporting the uptake of e-learning in South Australia. This service is available to all VET practitioners within SA, including private training providers, enterprise-located trainers, VET in schools, ACE, community and not-for profit organisations.

How to Obtain a Moodle Classroom (for VET trainers only)

VET practitioners in SA from private RTOs and other organisations:
To obtain a free Moodle classroom, first register on this site and then click the link 'Moodle Classroom Request Form'. Both links are in the navigation column, top left of this page.
All VET practitioners are able to request a Moodle classroom for the purposes of trialling the use of a Learning Management System, and for experimenting with the use of this Moodle environment and its associated tools. If you experience difficulty with accessing the 'Moodle Classroom Request Form' (it is a Google Form which may be blocked by some firewalls), email admin@e-skills.com.au to request a form in Word Doc format.

It is presumed that users of this site are self sufficient in using Moodle, as there is no Help Desk support. For assistance and resources to help you, go to Support.

TAFE SA staff wishing to set up a Moodle classroom can apply for a free TAFE SA Moodle classroom at http://moodle.tafesa.edu.au/

e-Skills e-Portfolio Application

Mahara (an open source e-portfolio application) is available as an externally linked application to this site. If you would like your Moodle linked to Mahara, contact e-Skills at admin@e-skills.com.au

If you do not wish for or require a login to the e-Skills Moodle service, you can access the e-Portfolio directly at: http://mahara.e-skills.com.au/ where you can register directly.

For further information on Mahara visit www.mahara.org

Backing up your online course

While this site is regularly backed up, you should also backup your own course regularly. It is good practice to backup once you have set up your course, and also when you complete a course, or get ready to enrol a new group of students.

You can backup the course within its own resource area, automatically creating a zip file which can be used to restore a course if required. You should also take a copy of your backup and store this on your own hard disk or shared drive as an archive of your own activity.
